Bunia Children Hope Center

This is a story of two young Africans who are helping the orphans in their home community assisted by two elderly people from Eden Prairie, Minnesota and their friends. It is amazing what God can achieve through committed people. Throughout the book, note how God has provided when the need becomes visible. In 1992 at age 62, I had open heart surgery to repair the mitral valve. After spending about four months recovering, my wife, Elsie, suggested that it was time for me to get out and do something. Her tone of voice suggested she was serious and dinner that night might be at risk. So I started thinking about what I could do. Not knowing how many more years I would live, the urge to do something significant (by my measuring stick) began to grow. Learn more

About B.C.H.C. Core Founders

Wherever Elsie went in Africa, it would not be long before the local people would start calling her Mama Elsie. She grew up in Colorado City, Texas and attended the First Presbyterian Church. Many times African missionaries would visit and tell their stories about caring for the children of Africa. Elsie developed a desire to some day visit Africa and help little children. Learn more

Our Clinic, Health and Nutrition Projects

In retrospect, we should have initially planned in more detail how to handle the health care and the nutritional needs of the orphans along with building a clinic. BCHC considers that health care includes treating and preventing sickness. A major emphasis is placed on personal hygiene and how to avoid diseases. Learn more
